As pianist Elio Villafranca states, "La Habana was my second mother, where I discovered my passion for piano, the color of love, my roots, and the richness of jazz in the music of Chick, Miles and Trane." For his new journey, Standing By The Crossroads, the pianist is joined in worldly expression by Vincent Herring on alto sax, flute and clarinet, Freddie Hendrix on trumpet and flugelhorn, Dayna Stephens on tenor sax and bass clarinet, bassist Edward Perez, drummer Domo Branch, and percussion/hand claps from Jonathan Troncoso, Mauricio Herrera & Jason Olaine.
From Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, one cut from the Standing By the Crossroads album will be featured each morning on the New Day, New Play spotlight on my Daybreak show.
