‘The Way to You” by Sara Caswell featured on WBGO’s New Day, New Play Apr. 3-7

Although she hasn't released an album under her own name in almost 17 years, violinist Sara Caswell has ranked up there in both DownBeat Critics and Readers polls. With The Way To You it's easy to see why. A collection of nuggets from Michel Legrand, Kenny Barron and Antonio Carlos Jobim sit comfortably with inspired originals, with the violinist joined by longtime bandmates Jesse Lewis on guitar, bassist Ike Sturm, drummer Jared Schonig and vibraphonist Chris Dingman.

From Monday, April 3 through Friday, April 7, one cut from The Way To You by Sara Caswell will be featured each morning on the New Day, New Play spotlight on my Daybreak show.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning. This winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year award has hosted the morning show each weekday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
