Ron Bosse

With his new recording, Burning Room Only, Boston guitarist Ron Bosse has the perfect response for those who maintain that a devotee of straight-ahead jazz cannot embrace other forms. Ron, whose former release Pursuance brought attention to his skills, graces this recording with his deeply funky, groovelated chops, alongside other genre-busting creators, including Bob Mintzer, Jimmy Haslip, Jeff Lorber, Bob Sheppard and Gary Novak, guaranteed to move your head like the pigeons in the park, showing why he's been the choice of Dave Liebman, Mike Stern and Norman Brown, and received glowing accolades from DownBeat, JazzTimes, Guitar Player Magazine, The Boston Globe and The New York Times.

From Monday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Dec. 30, one cut from Bosse’s Burning Room Only album will be featured each morning on the New Day, New Play spotlight on my Daybreak show.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning on Daybreak. He's the winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year Award and the recipient of the 2021 Marian McPartland-Willis Conover Award for Career Achievement in Broadcasting from the Jazz Journalists Association. Gary hosts the morning show each weekday from 8am til noon. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
