Monday, October 10 at 7pm, Pat Prescott, host of Favorite Things, will host a live-stream discussion based on the latest PBS series from Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., called Making Black America.
The live stream video will be added to this page.
The 4- part documentary series focuses on how, excluded from white society on so many fronts, African Americans in the long years from slavery to desegregation constructed their own society and, in doing so, established networks that resisted, and eventually toppled, Jim Crow, while giving birth to new cultural forms that transformed world culture, from literature to jazz.
Joining Pat for this discussion will be 3 interesting panelist with passionate insights on the subject and diverse perspectives: Walter Fields, principal of Fields Communications, a Maryland based public affairs consultancy; Tennyson Donyéa, award-winning journalist and WBGO/WHYY Statehouse reporter; and Jamara Wakefield, art & culture writer and multimedia producer.
Following the streaming event, we invite you to participate in a survey from our partners at WETA so that together we can improve the impact of these types of events.
