New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will reportedly be running for Governor next year even as the State Democratic Chair is backing the current Governor Kathy Hochul for the primary.
Sources are telling the New York Times that Mayor de Blasio has told people privately that he plans to run for governor. The mayor didn’t deny those comments when asked about the Times story.
“I got a lot to offer. I want to do more in public service. How that I going to play out, there is time to figure out.”
Earlier this week, State Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs announced he is endorsing Kathy Hochul who recently took over for Andrew Cuomo. State Attorney General Letitia James is also hinting at running for governor as well as New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
