Mayor Eric Adams' administration is trying to get more low income New Yorkers to take advantage of government help programs through a new initiative.

Adrienne Lever, the head of the Mayor's public engagement unit says there are more than 70 city, state, and federal programs that she feels not enough people take advantage of.

"Too many New Yorkers don't know about these resources or they simply can't access them because they don't have time between working two jobs and trying to feed their families to navigate 50 different government websites"

The Adams administration has launched the Money In Your Pocket initiative. It's where hundreds of trained staff members and The City University of New York students will start visiting more than 20 underserved neighborhoods to help New Yorkers find out which benefits they may be eligible to receive.
