Sarah Hanahan's 'Among Giants' from Blue Engine Records

For her debut recording, "Among Giants", alto saxophonist Sarah Hanahan displays a dedication to the past, while pushing the music forward to new places. With a quartet, featuring pianist Marc Cary, bassist Nat Reeves and drum master Jeff "Tain" Watts, Sarah shows her firey alto acumen one moment, her draw you in hush the next, it's a voice that adds wealth to lineage and tradition, while expressing an alto voice AJ her own, guaranteed to resonate with anyone who listens.

Sarah Hanahan will be performing at BRIC JazzFest on October 18.

Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning on Daybreak.
