  • The exhibition features artwork created by the glass artist Paula Meninato. Through the optical qualities of paint on glass, Persistent Memories depicts the human toll behind the criminalization of Latin Americans and the human suffering caused by wars and immigration policies. Some of the artworks are created during an artist residency at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center and made specifically for this installation. The exhibition also features videos to further emphasize the concepts of disappearance and invisibility. Padovano is also known as The Ironbound Crooner and aka The Coffeehouse Performer. His music is strongly influenced by his very early years in the Ironbound Section of Newark, NJ. Padovano will perform songs from his original song collections that include the titles: "Dusty Road Session" "solo recordings at Baroque Park," " Poesia and Chanson," "The Coffeehouse Performer," and "Wandering Square Impromptu no. 12". John "Giovanni" Padovano has in the past performed locally at Middletown Public Library, Princeton University and at other places in Princeton. His music is called "Poesia and Chanson".

  • Sue Maskaleris and Trio do Rio perform original Brazilian jazz. Sue Maskaleris is a pianist and vocalist and is the composer and lyricist for the group, which includes Nelson Riveros (guitar and vocals), Ariel Robles (electric bass), and Samuel Martinelli (drums). Sue's latest CD, "Love Is the Key," ranked #6 on the Latin Jazz charts of the Roots Radio Report for 2021. Nelson Riveros' "The Latin Side of Wes Montgomery" charted #2 on the JazzWeeks chart last year. Puerto Rico's Ariel Robles played on the Grammy-winning Calle 13 and Brazilian educator/producer Samuel Martinelli has recently founded the Brazilian Rhythm Workshop.

This annual concert event, co-presented by NJPAC’s Arts Education Department and the New Jersey Music Educators Association, brings together some of the very best young musicians and vocalists from across the state for a dynamic group performance. The NJMEA All-State Jazz Band and NJMEA All-State Jazz Choir will be joined by special guest Christian McBride—NJPAC Jazz Advisor and acclaimed jazz bassist, bandleader and composer.
