  • Doc Ashton and the Root Canals expand their group to a 20 piece jazz big band for the Doc Ashton and the Root Canals Christmas Big Band Extravaganza at St James United Methodist Church in Danville. The program is all Christmas big band music. The free concert is on Sunday, December 19th at 3:00 and 6:30pm. Several vocalists will perform with the band. This family friendly program is great holiday fun! Cookies and holiday punch will be served after each performance. See you there!

  • Comedy is back at NJPAC! Join us for an evening with Paula Poundstone, known for her smart, observational humor and spontaneous wit that has become the stuff of legend. She was the first woman to share the dais with the President and perform standup at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. She was the first woman to win the CableACE award for Best Stand-up Comedy Special. And she can be heard weekly as the host of the comedy podcast Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone, an out-of-control adult education class that meets in a treehouse. Paula continues as a panelist on NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! She is recognized in innumerable lists, documentaries, and literary compendiums noting influential standup comedians of our time.

He has recorded with New York Voices, Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra under the direction of David Baker, Bohemian Caverns All-Stars, John La Barbera, George Russell Orchestra, Bobby Caldwell, and the Amina Figarova Sextet among others. Tedd has also performed with the Artie Shaw Orchestra, Washington Jazz Orchestra, Alan Baylock Orchestra, and the Frank Carlberg/Andrew Rathbun Orchestra among others. Tedd Baker began playing professionally in Boston as a teenager. He placed first in the 2000 Hilton Head Jazz Society Competition. In 2001 he was chosen for the State Department Jazz Ambassador Program and toured South America, Central America and Jamaica. In 2002 he joined the Airmen of Note, USAF Band, Washington, D.C. Tedd Baker's all-original 2006 debut CD “Mugshots” received rave reviews from JazzTimes, and All About Jazz. Tedd's latest release "Duos Volume 1" is a reverent nod to the classic duo configuration, and features tenor/soprano saxophone paired in various duo settings with piano, bass, drums, guitar, and voice. Tedd is also featured on many recordings such as steel pan and composer Victor Provost's "Bright Eyes," the Taylor/ Fidyk Big Band "Live At Blues Alley," Ben Patterson Jazz Orchestra's "Vital Frequencies feat Chris Potter," and The Young Lions "Live At Bohemian Caverns." Robin S The house music singer and songwriter scored success in the ‘90s with “Show Me Love” and “Luv 4 Luv.” She had three #1 hits on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. CeCe Peniston The singer scored five #1 hits on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play in the ‘90s. Her signature song “Finally” reached the number 5 spot on the Hot 100. Black Sheep The hip hop duo from Queens, composed of Andres “Dres” Vargas Titus and William “Mista Lawnge” McLean, debuted in 1991 with the hit song “Flavor of the Month” and later released the album A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing. Ten City The Chicago-based R&B and house music act enjoyed a number of club hits and Urban radio hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s and were one of the first exponents of deep house. Best known for the singles “Devotion,” “Right Back to You” and “That’s the Way Love Is,” which hit #1 on the US dance chart. Lumidee The rapper, singer, and songwriter quickly rose to fame in 2003 with the release of her song “Never Leave You,” which reached the top ten in ten countries and #1 across Europe. George Lamond The freestyle music and salsa music singer released seven albums between 1989-2014 and is best known for his 1989 #25 Billboard debut, “Bad of the Heart,” and his #1 salsa smash, “Que Te Vas.” Lisette Melendez The American freestyle/Latin pop/dance-pop singer is best known for her 1991 hits “Together Forever,” #35 at the Billboard Hot 100, and “A Day In My Life.” Aly-Us The New Jersey house music group was active starting in the early ‘90s. Their most famous record was “Follow Me” from 1992. Nardo Ranks The Jamaican artist blends his dancehall style with socially conscious lyrics in popular songs including “Victim of the Ghetto,” “Unwanted,” “Hush Baby Mother”. Marshall Jefferson Working in the house music subgenres of Chicago house and deep house, his influential 1986 single “Move Your Body” was the first house song to use the piano. Strafe The old-school hip hop group gained popularity in the mid-’80s and is best known for its single “Set It Off” which has been extensively sampled by hip-hop, house, techno, and EDM artists.
