LIVE AT THE FILLMORE Performs Eat A Peach in its Entirety-Classic Allman Brothers Album
The band LIVE AT THE FILLMORE is a favorite at NYC's The Cutting Room and is proud to perform the classic Allman Brothers album Eat A Peach in its entirety. As per band leader Lou Maresca: "LIVE AT THE FILLMORE is the continuation of our devotion to recreating the music of the original Allman Brothers Band as it was performed in those early years before the untimely deaths of Duane and Berry Oakley and the departure of Dickey Betts. Those years were the "glory days" of the Allman Brothers Band.”

April feels like the perfect time to re-emerge and celebrate the awesome power of Jazz to heal, rejuvenate and uplift. There's nothing like the circle of energy between the band and the audience on a good night."

Devin Gray Quartet
Originally from Maine, drummer Devin Gray has been active in New York City for well over a dozen years. An artist whose interest in multiple musical directions brings sincerity to his work while being considered cutting edge by his contemporaries. This new quartet project with long-time collaborators Michael Formanek (Dirigo Rataplan), Ingrid Laubrock (Cloud Sounds), and Angelica Sanchez (Melt All the Guns) allows for Devins latest compositional, political, and social aspirations to unfold in real time. There will be very limited vinyl reissue copies available at the concert and from his record label: https://rataplanrecordsnyc -
WMI Presents Les Filles de Illighadad
One of the hottest new acts coming out of the Desert Blues tradition, Les Filles de Illighadad is a groundbreaking band founded by Fatou Seidi Ghali in Illighadad, a village in the Sahara Desert in Niger. Ghali, it is claimed, is the first Tuareg woman to play guitar professionally. The group, made up of three women and one man (Ghali’s brother), juxtaposes modern electric guitars with tende – a traditional Tuareg musical form typically performed by women, featuring drumming and chanting. The result is a timeless sound that
The New Yorker
describes as “mesmeric, almost prayer-like” and
Pitchfork
calls “hypnotic”.
The
WOMEN’S VOICES
series celebrates the role that female artists play in the preservation and promotion of their respective cultures and traditions. |
