  • Flushing Town Hall presents the GRAMMY award-nominated Bill Charlap Trio, with GRAMMY award-winning pianist Bill Charlap, bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington. Praised by The Guardian as“one of the best piano trios ever,”the Bill Charap Trio which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022, is considered one of the leading jazz groups.   • Saxophonist and composer Stan Killian hosts the Queens Brewery Monday Night Jam Session every week. Located on the edge of Bushwick, Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens, the Queens Brewery is a huge space that offers plenty of beers and cocktails and great food by Cento Percento. Featuring great veteran jazz artists like Paul Bollenback and Stacy Dillard, the Stan Killian band kicks off the night with an opening set of originals and then opens up the jam session to some of New York and New Jersey's best and brightest jazz artists. It's a jazz party every Monday at the Queens Brewery where instrumentalists and vocalists are welcomed to sit in, play and join the fun before the lively audience at New York City's best kept secret!
  • Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center is pleased to present a new Professional Virtual Industry Series offering for those interested in theater. This free winter series features industry professionals who have had years of experience in the film, television, theatre and music industry as producers, writers, casting agents, directors, managers and performing artists. Emerging artists, ages 14-24, will have an opportunity to hear about their journey and gain from the experiences. Among his peers, he is considered one of the most swinging bassists on the scene and a “keeper of the flame” who masters the style like no one else today.   • Award-winning Broadway veteran Tina Fabrique (Ragtime, Bring in da’ Noise, Bring in da’ Funk, The Wiz, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Gospel at Colonus), pays homage to Gospel - spiritual music that was, and still is a staple of African-American life.   • The jazz duo Acute Inflections will perform at the Englewood Public Library on Sunday, May 22 at 7 p.m. on the library's front plaza. The concert is free and open to the public. This will be the first outdoor concert of the year for the Library. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Main Level.     On Sunday, May 22 at 7 p.m. celebrated Jazz duo Acute Inflections will perform on the library plaza with a wonderful evening of Jazz (and a little Reggae thrown in). Acute Inflections are Elasea Douglas (former Broadway singer) and Sadiki Pierre (bassist). One reviewer described them as “a velvety mix of Erykah Badu & Billie Holiday paired with the cool grooves of a 007 on bass.” They have shared the stage with Jennifer Hudson, Keith Urban, and other notable artists.
