A Night in the Woods Gala
Tickets are now available for Teatown’s “A Night in the Woods” Gala — our signature annual celebration. After a pandemic-proscribed virtual gala last year, we’re excited to gather on Sunday, October 3 at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Briarcliff Manor to celebrate “Teatown Teaches: An Intergenerational Community of Environmental Leaders.” This year’s Gala honorees are beloved Teatown community members who have committed immeasurable time and talent in support of Teatown’s mission: Nancy Felcher, Dr. Angela White, Howard Permut, and our own Teatown Education Staff. Questions about Gala tickets or sponsorships? Contact Karina Tarnawsky, associate director of events and external relations (ktarnawsky@teatown.org), or Susie Erdey, director of development (serdey@teatown.org). We’re eager to greet you at this year’s Gala and celebrate the community that is Teatown. Join us in showing your gratitude for Teatown’s environmental leadership.
The Moral Pandemic Day 1: Public Health as a Race Issue
It is a well-established fact that Blacks and other minority groups in the U.S. experience far greater healthcare disparities than the white population. Ranging from the tragedy of higher rates of illness and premature deaths to simple basics like access to accurate information, a myriad of factors contributes to these inequalities. As the COVID pandemic has raged across our country and apprehension about the vaccine is high among certain populations, the situation is more dire than ever. This panel will explore the layers of complexity behind both the implicit and overt racism that is blocking access to the basic right of decent healthcare. Speakers will examine the long-standing socioeconomic factors that underpin the discrepancies around every aspect of our health system and discuss how this public reckoning can be the impetus for positive change.

Tony Trischka and Bruce Molsky
The Watchung Arts Center is delighted and honored to present two outstanding performers, each at the top of his field on Sunday, January 23 at 3PM. Tony Trischka, “known as the father of modern bluegrass” (New York Times), and Bruce Molsky, “one of the world's premier Appalachian-style fiddlers” (Bloomberg News), will join together in this very special performance. There’s some virtuosic and joy provoking common ground in the fusion of Tony Trischka’s bluegrass banjo world view and Bruce Molsky’s new but true to tradition old time southern mountain fiddling and singing. Their new and old songs and tunes showcase the best of each, and hearing them together is always a wonderful visit between old friends.
