The Cuomo Administration is being accused of under-counting coronavirus nursing home deaths in New York State by as much as 50 percent.
The state says there’s been more than 85 hundred coronavirus nursing home deaths but a report by Attorney General Letitia James alleges it’s been undercounted by thousands. Bill Drummond with the government watchdog Group The Empire Center, says the report confirms what he has suspected.
“It’s possible that if we knew the full picture where deaths have been occurring, we would have a better idea of what policies could have saved lives.”
The report also says many nursing homes did not comply with infection control policies. Governor Cuomo's office says it's reviewing the report.
