Mayor Adams' administration is announcing its next phase of bringing financial literacy to schools across New York City.
Mayor Adams says the city is partnering with banks to help students learn about money from budgeting to understanding debt and investing. Commissioner of Department of Consumer of Worker Protection Vilda Vera Mayuga says an in school banking pilot program starts in January in 15 high schools.
"They'll attend workshops, learn how to open bank accounts, explore careers in finance all before graduation in high school."
The state just changed graduation requirements to now include personal finance. The program is expected to be expanded to 350-thousand students by 2030.
