Construction is underway for a new 10 billion dollar Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown, Manhattan. Officials broke ground on Thursday.
The new bus terminal is being built to be able to handle an expanded commuter growth, taking in a lot more buses per hour. Port Authority's Rick Cotton also notes it will have ramps directly connected to the Lincoln Tunnel.
"It will dramatically take buses off the streets. No idling buses, no pickups and drop-offs on the street. All of that will occur in our new idling complex.
The new 10 billion dollar terminal project also include green space. It's expected to be complete in about eight years.
