Families across New York will be getting extra child care assistance money from the state .
State officials say more than one million low and moderate income families will be receiving a supplemental payment check of up to 330 dollars per child in August without needing to apply. This is through the Empire State Child Tax Credit and is in addition to the 2023 tax credit they have already received. Lisa Chin of Mount Vernon qualifies for the program.
“It’s helped me stay focused caring for my kids while also taking care of myself and pursuing my career goals. I didn’t have to make tough choice, trying to choose between the two.”
Governor Hochul says the supplemental payments are part of efforts to help families navigate the costs of living in New York.
