NYC to crackdown on illegal cannabis shops

New York City is starting an operation to shutdown shops illegally selling cannabis.

Mayor Eric Adams says the sheriff's office and NYPD now will be able to padlock smoke and cannabis shops without a license following inspections. Adams formed a task force to conduct enforcement.

"They have become a magnet for crime. They have become a magnet for quality of life issues that we have faced in this city.

The recently passed state budget gives New York City officials and authorities more tools to go after the huge number of illegal shops that have sprouted up in all five boroughs.
