Following some pressure , Mayor Adams' administration is restoring funding to early childhood education programs in New York City.

The Adams Administration is setting aside 514 million dollars for educational programs and staff in the 2025 budget. The programs were previously being supported by expiring COVID 19 stimulus money. Council Speaker Adrienne Adams says that includes some pre-k and universal 3-K programs as well social workers and psychologists.

"Our students are still struggling to recover from historic levels of learning loss and mental health challenges caused by the pandemic. They need our support now more than ever."

The restoration of funds comes after several council members with children formed a group to put pressure on the mayor's administration to support the programs.
