New York Governor Kathy Hochul and New Jersey governor Phil Murphy signed off on a letter calling for federal action on the migrant crisis.

The letter states that the sustained arrival of migrants requiring shelter and assistance, due to lack of Congressional action can only be addressed with federal organizational support and funding. The letter went on to say,

"it is clear our national immigration system is outdated and unprepared to respond to this unprecedented global migration."

Nine governors signed the letter that's being sent to the White House and Congressional leaders. The letter asks for one and a half billion dollars in migrant aid for states and localities as well the passage of comprehensive border security legislation.
