New York City is changing the way it enforces nightlife rules for businesses.

Mayor Adams' Administration is doing away with unannounced inspections of nightlife establishments...Instead, a new policy involving more engagement is going into effect. NYPD Chief of Department Jeffery Maddrey says the department will give businesses multiple opportunities to address community concerns.

"Enforcement is going to be our absolute last option. That's going to be the last resort and that's really going to be based on a business that puts up a wall."

Mayor Adams says this new initiative will help protect public safety, ensure better quality of life, and keep business doors open.
