New Yorkers are packing their bags for other states.

New U.S. Census data shows New York state lost around one-hundred thousand people from July 2022 to July 2023. That is the most of any state in the nation during that time. New York has lost more than half a million residents in the last three years which covers a good part of the pandemic. House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stafanik commented on the new data.

"With record crime and cost of living far beyond the national average, New York’s mass exodus is far from over."

Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul previously acknowledge the outmigration trend and pointed to a lack of housing. Democratic Mayor Eric Adams says cities in general have become unaffordable.
