The NYPD is beefing up security in response to a dangerous killer on the loose following the deadly mass shooting in Maine.

Chief John Chell says the police department has distributed photos of suspect Robert Card to all uniformed officers and took further action out of caution.

"We have a level 4 activation going on in New York City. That's over 900 cops mobilized. We split the city into two parts. Those police officers will be deployed to high sensitive locations."

Police officials are urging New Yorker to go about their business but to be alert to their surroundings. The NYPD sent investigators to Lewiston, Maine to gather information about the mass shooting case and offer support. The suspect has no known connection to new York City.
