With summer now here, The Adams Administration vows to continue the crackdown on illegal dirt bikes.

Officials say Illegal dirt bikes and ATVs have have drawn a lot of complaints in New York City over recent years. Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell says since January the NYPD has seized over two thousand, nearly 80 percent more than this time last year.

“Driving these motorbikes on city streets on sidewalks or in parks and within housing developments in dangerous. It’s reckless and illegal. It puts everyone at risk.”

The bikes that are confiscated are destroyed and turned into scrap metal. Police say they will continue to follow up with 311 complaints and with social media posts to lead them to the bikes.
