A survey by the non profit group LISC NYC shows three quarters of New York City’s minority-owned small business owners fear they will be forced to shut if they don’t get money real soon. State Senator Jabari Brisport.

“We have to make sure that our local community storefronts stay open because if we don’t we know who is going to move on. It’s going to be Starbucks, it’s going to be Duane Reade. It’s going to be all these big box retailers and we are going to lose the vibrance thriving community.”

He and others gathered in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn to call on state lawmakers to streamline already approved financial assistance to minority owned small businesses across the city.
