Governor Murphy is being challenged by Republican and former state Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli in November. Earlier this week, he chose former state assemblywoman and former Philadelphia TV news anchor Diane Allen to be his running mate.
Just like Ciattarelli, Allen came out swinging against incumbent Democrat Phil Murphy on unemployment, motor vehicles services...and the treatment of women in his administration.
"You might remember hearing about Katie Brennan. She's the woman who was raped during the campaign. And the governor just really didn't have time to talk with her. And then, the fellow that raped her; gave him a great job."
Allen also blasted Murphy for his delayed response to the abuse of women inmates at the Edna Mahan correctional facility.
Republican strategist Michael DuHaime says Allen is a strong choice for Ciattarelli, especially when it comes to issues of gender quality.
"She's a very strong advocate, certainly on this and alsways has been. And certainly what it signals to me is that the Ciatarrelli campaign is going to use this as an issue, perhaps, in a way they have not yet."
Ciattarelli says he's about the "Jack and Diane" GOP team looking to unseat incumbent democrat Phil Murphy on November 2.
