A world premiere percussion event featuring award-winning virtuoso, Britton-René Collins. Collins has been commissioned to compose a new work on the theme of time which she will perform in a program of other solo percussion works. Britton-René is a winner of the 2020 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition and was awarded the Ambassador Prize for exceptional musicianship and demonstrating an active passion for creating social change through her music. This concert is part of a two-concert series, On Time, which includes a concert on May 29 by Brooklyn based string quartet, The Rhythm Method.

Robert Bannon’s new show Press Rewind will take you on a musical journey of the stories and songs that shaped his life. Brooklyn based string quartet The Rhythm Method returns to the Morris Museum after their debut during the 2021 season of Lot of Strings with a multifaceted program exploring themes of time. This musical journey literally takes the audience through time and space; beginning outside of the Bickford Theatre with Steve Reich’s Pendulum Music, equal parts sculpture and composition, and continues in the theatre with works by Marina Kifferstein, Paul Pinto, and the world premiere of a Live Arts commission by local composer, Kailyn Williams. This concert is part of a two-concert series, On Time, which includes a concert on May 15 by percussion virtuoso, Britton-René Collins.

One of the hottest new acts coming out of the Desert Blues tradition, Les Filles de Illighadad is a groundbreaking band founded by Fatou Seidi Ghali in Illighadad, a village in the Sahara Desert in Niger. Ghali, it is claimed, is the first Tuareg woman to play guitar professionally. The group, made up of three women and one man (Ghali’s brother), juxtaposes modern electric guitars with tende – a traditional Tuareg musical form typically performed by women, featuring drumming and chanting. The result is a timeless sound that The New Yorker describes as “mesmeric, almost prayer-like” and Pitchfork calls “hypnotic”.

Following her ground-breaking and award-winning global project In War & Peace: Harmony Through Music which reached over 3 million viewers worldwide, mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato turns her creative vision and artistry to her next great passion: EDEN. EDEN is DiDonato's latest multi-faceted initiative uniting music, drama, and education to challenge and galvanize audiences, transcending the physical concert hall. By examining our relationship to the natural world and our unique place within it,  EDEN invites the listener to explore and search for answers about belonging, purpose, and healing. The program ranges from the 17th to the 21st century, embracing such composers as Handel, Gluck, Wagner, Mahler, Ives, and Copland, and featuring a new work from Academy Award-winner Rachel Portman commissioned specially for this project. Longtime collaborators Il Pomo d'Oro and conductor Maxim Emelyanychev join DiDonato in this expansive performance coming to the Harris stage for one night only.
