There will soon be more childcare options in New York State and tax break for diapers. Governor Kathy Hochul signed State Senator Jamaal Bailey’s bill that suspends all local taxes on diapers. Baily says it's a help to families who are feeling the pinch because of inflation.
“It’s critical we step up and try to ease the burden on our families. Diapers are often the largest expense for families. For those of you who have bought diapers, you know how much they cost and they are essential.”
Meanwhile, just prior to the bill signing, the governor announced 70 million dollars in federal grants for new childcare facilities in areas of the state lacking in childcare options. Many childcare operations shut down permanently earlier in the coronavirus pandemic.
