Former Newark city Council President LaMonica McIver easily won Wednesday's in New Jersey's 10th Congressional District in a special election to replace the late Democrat Donald Payne Jr. in the U.S. House of Representatives.

McIver defeated Republican businessman Carmen Bucco in the special election.

McIver reportedly received more than 80% of the vote.
