Governor Kathy Hochul is considering a face mask ban in the New York City subway system.
Hochul says she is in talks with state lawmakers, City Hall and the MTA on ways to address criminals in the subway system hiding their identity through masks. She made reference to a recent group of people with masks on a subway train making anti-Jewish comments and scaring riders.
"When we have images of people with masks that cover up almost there entire face, its almost impossible to find these perpetrators, so it's something we are talking about."
She says any potential mask ban legislation would have exemptions for health or religious reasons.
