More clean energy rideshare vehicles coming

New York City is takin a big step to get have more clean energy vehicles on the road.

The Taxi and Limousine Commission now has an agreement with Mayor Adams' administration to abide by the so called Green Rides Rule. It mandates that all of the city's rideshare vehicle fleet become either zero emissions or wheelchair accessible by year 2030. Larry Gallegos From Lyft says his company full supports the measure.

"Transportation is the single largest source of harmful greenhouse gas pollution in the U.S. and creating more sustainable way of travel is crucial to combatting climate change."

Uber and Lyft have about 78 thousand vehicles combined in the City. Meanwhile, Taxi And Limousine commission is take applications for new electric vehicle licenses , lifting a pause it had in place for the applications.
