Many Still Not Back In NYC Office Buildings

A new survey out shows many Manhattan office workers are still working from home and many won’t be back in the workplace anytime soon. A Partnership for New York City survey shows 54 percent of Manhattan office workers remain fully remote and only 13 percent are expected to be back five days a week by the end of January. President of the Partnership Kathryn Wylde says coronavirus is the number one reason for the slow office return but right behind that is employee preference to work remotely.

“People got used to the benefit of being able to work from home and not having to commute and employers are having to respond to their employee preferences.”

The survey also found a third of employers expect office space needs will decline over the next five years.
