Murphy, Booker, Menendez Outline NJ Priorities

Governor-elect Phil Murphy says the Gateway Tunnel project is one of his administration’s top priorities, and it will take co-operation between state and federal government to get it done.

“It’s a game changer for New Jersey.  It’s a game changer for New York.  We want to unlock those keys and get that up, funded, and running.”

US Senator Bob Menendez rues what he calls a lost opportunity to build a new Hudson River rail tunnel under current Republican Governor Chris Christie.

“For me this has been a long-standing challenge for the late Frank Lautenberg.  We came together and got three billion dollars of federal commitment, at that time the largest federal commitment to a mass transit project in the nation’s history.  Of course, Governor Christie had a different view and we lost that.  For a decade, we have had the challenge.”

Governor-elect Murphy has concerns over the Republican tax bill, and the future of Obamacare.

“Whether it’s the state and local tax deductions, or property tax, undermining student loans, alternative energy or huge tax cuts to big corporations who will then use it to buy their shares as oppose to the promise to create more jobs and increase wages.”

Murphy also wants clear solutions for the Garden State’s 20,000 plus DACA recipients.
