Newark Today : Baraka Talks Lawsuit Over NYC's SOTA Program

The SOTA (or Special One Time Assistance) program has placed 1,200 homeless families from NYC in housing in Newark, since 2017. The program has recently made headlines around the quality of the housing stock, which has prompted the city to sue Mayor Bill De Blasio's administration, in an effort to stop the relocation program.

This month, Host Michael Hill of NJTV News, will be joined by Mayor Ras Baraka and Corporation Counsel Kenyatta Stewart on Newark Today to discuss the issues surrounding the SOTA program, including Newark's efforts to locate the families and inspect the housing in question.
