In the first of our series of podcast episodes from the WBGO Media Workshop program, James interviews musician Abhay (Telemakus) and discusses a variety of things, including his childhood in New Jersey and how he began making beats and put out beat tapes. Little by little, he began incorporating his own musical talents on these beats. Fueled by the inspiration of Herbie Hancock, Telemakus began posting his beats on Instagram. This would lead to a full-fledged album, The New Heritage.
The two discussed the pros and cons of Instagram and his life in general, as well as the importance of collaboration and positivity.
