American Women Saints debuts on PBS March 23

On this episode of AOS, Marylou & Jerome Bongiorno, Emmy-nominated, award winning, husband-and-wife, Newark-based filmmakers are out with their latest project American Women Saints.

The two-part, comprehensive, animated and historical documentary series focuses on two iconic women who were the first American Catholic saints: Elizabeth Ann Seton and Frances Xavier Cabrini.

Using first person narration in modern language, these films present the untold stories of strong, smart, and driven women.

The filmmakers chat with WBGO's Doug Doyle about American Women Saints doc that debuts on March 23 on PBS stations nationwide (check your local listings).

Doug Doyle has been News Director at WBGO since 1998 and has taken his department to new heights in coverage and recognition. Doug and his staff have received more than 250 awards from organizations like PRNDI (now PMJA), AP, New York Association of Black Journalists, Garden State Association of Black Journalists and the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists.
