New York City is adding more seats to its free after school programing.

The city is putting in 21 million dollars for five thousand more K-though 5th grade free after school seats across 40 schools. That puts the city on pace for universal after-school programming in the next three school years. Amado is a sixth grader benefitting from after school.

"In my afterschool debate club, I learned how to listen to other's opinions and respond respectively. Even when I disagree, it helped me become a better writer and speaker."

After school seats offer a variety of academic and social development programs including the arts, sports and robotics.
