Some abortion clinics in New York are getting extra funding from the state following the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe V. Wade. Governor Hochul announced an Abortion Provider Support Fund just prior to the Supreme Court’s decision. She now awarding 10 millions dollars in grants from the fund for abortion providers that operate dozens of clinics throughout the state. Health Commissioner Mary Bassett says this is in preparation for a surge in demand from people in states that have abortion bans.
“This is part of ensuring that we have expanded access in New York State.”
the governor expects to award another 15 million dollars soon to independent clinics through the Abortion Provider Support Fund.
