Gym owners in New York City want politicians to take action to help their industry which is still struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.

Head of United States Fitness Coalition Charles Cassara says most gyms in New York State are down 60 percent in revenue compared to the period just prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Even though we are open, we are still having trouble getting new members in. We are losing a percentage of the public who perhaps don’t want to wear masks or show vaccine cards. Until it’s all done, it all affects us.”

He’s urging New York City Mayor Eric Adams to drop the vaccine mandate. The group is also advocating for a senate bill that would get federal funding to gyms similar to the way restaurants got help.
