Violinist Regina Carter Checks in with The Pulse, Before Her Concert at Kean Stage

For many, violinist Regina Carter set the blueprint for genre-blending. With nearly a dozen recordings in her catalog, she has been a major influence for string artists like Chelsey Green, The String Queens, Black Violin, Scott Tixier and more.

And Carter is not only a world-renowned artist, but also an educator. A paramount aspect of her mission has been to educate and inspire future generations in both the creative and business realms as the Artistic Director of the Geri Allen Jazz Camp at New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

Carter understands the importance of positive impact. Growing up, one of her musical inspirations was Ella Fitzgerald. Her latest album, Ella: Accentuate the Positive, explores Fitzgerald’s “B-Side” tracks that crawled under the radar. On Saturday, Feb. 15, she celebrates Ella Fitzgerald at Kean Stage, in the Enlow Recital Hall.
