April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and WBGO is celebrating by showcasing some of the talent from local programs.
This installment features the Manhattan School of Music's Mingus Ensemble, which tackles the music of bassist Charles Mingus.
Led by Frank Lacy, a veteran trombonist in the Mingus Big Band, this ensemble brings heat to the material. Watch their performance, on Afternoon Jazz with Bill Daughtry, below.
