Roads and rail busy in Queens As U.S. Open starts

Scores of tennis fans will be flocking to Queens starting Monday, the first day of the U.S. Open tennis tournament.

The MTA is adding extra service on the subway system and Long Island Rail Road for the roughly one million tennis fans headed to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in to see the best tennis players in the world. Rob Free is the President of the Long Island Rail Road.

"Last year, we set a record with ridership for fans attending the U.S. Open and this year we hope to accommodate even more. We know how popular this event is."

Also popular, the New York Mets who will have seven home games during the tennis tournament, meaning those days trains and roads will be extra crowded. Plenty of tennis stars will be on hand. The field includes 10 former US Open champions. Coco Gauff, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner among the big names.
