The minimum wage is set to go up in New York and in New Jersey with the start of the new year next week.

In upstate New York, the minimum wage goes up to 15 dollars an hour and in New York City, Long Island and Westchester it will be 16 dollars. In New Jersey, the statewide minimum wage is going up by a dollar to 15.13 per hour for most employees. The minimum wage for staff at long term care facilities goes up to 18-dollars and 13 cents. Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation a few years ago that triggered several years in a row of a minimum wage increase.
