Some area mayors joined with city officials, state representatives and other on the steps of Newark City Hall Monday, denouncing The Trump Administration’s plans to conduct pre-dawn ICE raids. Those raids were scheduled to happen Sunday but were postponed for a couple of weeks.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka says they reject President Trump’s attack on undocumented families across the United States.  He calls the raids outrageous. 

Hundreds of New Jersey residents rallied outside the Statehouse in Trenton urging lawmakers to pass a bill that would allow undocumented immigrants to get a driver’s license.

Johanna Calle, the director of New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, says it’s frustrating that the legislature has not acted on the measure.

New Jersey lawmakers are hearing plenty of concerns about federal immigration agents entering state courthouses to arrest unauthorized immigrants.

It's not clear just how often that's happening, but advocates for immigrants say it's having a chilling effect.
