Dee Dee Bridgewater traveled a short psychic distance from guest of honor to star attraction at the 2019 WBGO Champions of Jazz Gala, on Wednesday night at Capitale in New York.

Rhonda Hamilton has been a trusted voice at WBGO since we first went on the air, 40 years ago.

Describing her first day on the job in a recent conversation with our News team, she recalled “walking into the studio, and just being excited about the opportunity to play the music that I love on the air – in my area, where I grew up.”

WBGO celebrated its 40th birthday this past Wednesday.  WBGO's Alexandra Hill chats with the "Morning Maestro" Gary Walker who has been hosting programs on the greatest jazz station in the world for more than 37 of those amazing years.

"Bright Moments" was both an album title and a mantra for the inimitable multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk. His widow, Dorthaan Kirk, was the third person hired at WBGO, New Jersey's first public radio station — and she has always kept the spirit of Bright Moments alive.

WBGO celebrates four decades of jazz and its magnificent diversity on one night, Friday, January 11th, at SOB’s during Winter Jazzfest in New York City.
