    James Austin Jr honed his craft under legendary jazz musicians like Barry Harris and is regularly featured in the NYC area in live concerts, theatrical performances, and civic and charitable events. He has curated and led the NJPAC Jazz Jam Session series since its inception.

    Dermel Warren developed her singing voice in her childhood church in Memphis, TN, where she trained with Kelley Muller-Smith (the first lady of Miracle Temple Ministries, Inc). She has performed with Sergio Davis, the late Mel Waiters, and Donald Lawrence. She performs regularly with her husband, jazz drummer Jeremy Warren, and several other top musicians.

    The VJC’s artistic director, Eugene Uman (piano,composition) presents the culmination of a year’s worth of composing and collaborating.

    Listeners can expect a “convergence” of the music he loves, including references to Colombian rhythms, swinging jazz and funk.

    This year features Michael Zsoldos (saxophone), Jeff Galindo (trombone), & the group’s original rhythm section: Stomu Takeishi (bass) and Satoshi Takeishi (drums).
