    Sonia De Los Santos was born with a smile on her face (that's what her mom says) in Monterrey, Mexico, and in 2007 started touring the world and performing with Grammy Award winning group Dan Zanes And Friends. In 2015 she released her first solo family music album titled Mi Viaje: De Nuevo León to the New York Island (Parents' Choice Foundation Gold Award Winner) a collection of songs that reflect her experiences growing up in Mexico, moving to another country, learning about other cultures, and in the process, feeling closer to her own heritage.

    NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest and BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! 2022 are teaming up to host a first-of-its-kind joint showcase! On June 18, the Tiny Desk Contest On The Road Tour culminates with its last concert at Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park!

    Inaugural NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Fantastic Negrito headlines this night of musical discovery. His new album White Jesus Black Problems is a deeply personal excavation of his family history dating back to slavery, which he’ll showcase with accompanying projections. The night will start off with sets by first year contest standout Seratones, 2020 contest winner Linda Diaz, and this year’s Tiny Desk Contest winner Alisa Amador!

  • Concert By The C - solo C-melody saxophone performance Since 2019, Brad Linde has been performing solo concerts on the rare C-melody saxophone. The improvisations are drawn from compositions by Albert Ayler, Anthony Braxton, Lennie Tristano, Charlie Parker, and originals. This performance is dedicated to Jimmy Giuffre and pianist Erroll Garner in celebration of their centennials.   • The Dan Wallace/Jake Kohlhas Ensemble featuring Eddie Hrybyk and Frank Russo Dan Wallace: sax and piano Jake Kohlhas: guitar Eddie Hrybyk: bass Frank Russo: drums Dan Wallace (tenor sax) and Jake Kohlhas (guitar) have been writing and performing music together in Baltimore for nearly a decade with the Soul/Hip-Hop group J Pope and the HearNow. They immediately bonded as aspiring jazz musicians over their many shared influences. Over the course of the pandemic Dan and Jake started writing original music outside of JPHN and are ready to showcase some of that new music with the help of Ed Hrybyk on bass and Frank Russo on drums. For this performance we will be doing original compositions along with music by Joe Henderson, John Scofield, and possibly others.
