WBGO Journal Contributor
Jon Kalish is a free-lance feature reporter for WBGO who also works for several newspaper and radio outlets. Jon's newspaper stories have been published in all five of New York City's dailies, and around the world via the Reuters newswire. A contributor to National Public Radio's daily newsmagazines for more than 25 years, his radio stories have also aired in Australia, Canada, England, Japan and New Zealand.
Jon is considered something of an authority on New York's Orthodox Jewish community, having reported on it since 1983. He has produced several half-hour radio documentaries about New York City characters for KCRW in Los Angeles. Jon has saved virtually all of the raw interviews and recordings he has made in a radio career spanning more than 30 years and has digitized the lion's share of his archive. He shares a loft in Manhattan with his wife Pamela, a painter, and two Siamese cats named Max and Izzy.
