April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and WBGO is celebrating by showcasing some of the talent from local programs.
The School of Jazz at The New School has an array of student ensembles, across a wide expanse of style. This ensemble, a modernistic quartet, dropped by Afternoon Jazz to perform a mix of standards and originals — including pieces by bassist Solomon Gottfried and alto saxophonist Adam Cordero.
"This group has been a joy to work with, and I hope that we're going to continue to play," Cordero told WBGO's Bill Daughtry, when asked of the group's plans after this semester. "We're definitely going to be trying to book some more things for next fall and spring, when we're all here."
