New York City is taking The Trump Administration to court in a lawsuit over threats to withhold funding.
President Trump has labeled New York and other cities as anarchist cities where Trump says they let folks burn buildings and ruin lives. The city’s head lawyer Jim Johnson says the Trump Administration has now taken steps to put that anarchist wording in federal grant applications.
“They are stepping way over their bounds. Congress controls the power of the purse, not the Trump Administration.”
Johnson adds there is no basis in fact for using the term anarchist to decide federal funding. Mayor de Blasio is confident the City will win in court.
“It’s morally wrong. It’s legally unacceptable.”
