NYC Postponses Indoor Dining As De Blasio Seeks Names of Out of State Travelers

Indoor dining will not happen as planned now in New York City.  It was to be part of phase three of reopening which is on track for Monday, but Mayor Bill de Blasio saw coronavirus problems elsewhere.  He says he wants to wait until there’s evidence showing indoor dining can be done safely.

“Now what we are seeing in Florida, what we are seeing in Texas, even California that tried really hard to get it right, slipping backwards. We see a lot of problems and we particularly see problems revolving around people going back to bars and restaurants indoors.”

Meanwhile, the mayor is giving the okay to open 15 large pools in the coming weeks with coronavirus restrictions in place.

Mayor de Blasio wants to try and track down people who are coming to New York City from areas with a high number of coronavirus cases. de Blasio is trying to get a hold of information on visitors flying in from states on the coronavirus quarantine list.

“We’d like the Port Authority police ya know working with the airlines to get those names and share them with the city and then our test and trace corps can follow up with every single one, confirm they are in quarantine, make sure they have resources.”

He’s calling for a similar effort at the Port Authority Bus terminal and bridges and tunnels. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have mandated that visitors from 16 states with rising coronavirus case numbers go into quarantine for 14 days.
